Basic Life Support Classes

The AHA BLS Provider training is a video-based, instructor-led course that provides basic life support skills to both single and team rescuers for use in in-facility and prehospital situations. This course is intended for students who are renewing, or enrolling for the first time.

Who Should Enroll in This Course?  Physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel are eligible to take this course. BLS certification may also be required for medical, ems or nursing students in training.

Exam and Course Format BLS Provider is an instructor-led video-based course in which students participate in realistic clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with our AHA BLS Instructor throughout the course to complete skills practice and testing. Students must pass the BLS written exam with an 84% or higher at the end of the course. Please keep in mind that students are permitted to consult the BLS manual throughout the BLS Provider exam.

Certificate of Completion Students receive a two-year American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard. AHA cards will be processed as eCards and will typically be received within 3-5 business days of the class. Students should expect an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org with a link to their eCard.
